When the key won’t work at opening time and your staff are waiting on the sidewalk, the morning is already slipping away. Master Locksmith opens offices, retail stores, restaurants, clinics and warehouses in Silver Spring and across the region. Commercial doors are a different world from house doors: aluminum storefronts with narrow deadlocks, panic bars on steel doors, heavy mortise locks, interchangeable cores and keypads. We know how they work and how to open them without damaging a door that costs far more to replace than a residential one.
Before we open anything, we’ll ask to see a government issued ID. Then we get to work. We serve offices in downtown Silver Spring, Bethesda and Rockville, shopping centers in Prince George’s County, storefronts in DC, and businesses around Baltimore and Northern Virginia. Lines are open Monday through Saturday, 8am to 8pm, at (301) 888-5152.

What Our Customers Say

Getting Your Business Open Again

A lockout at work is never only about the door. Staff, customers and deliveries are all waiting on it. This is what we bring when we get the call.

Experience With Commercial Hardware

Storefront deadlocks, mortise locks, rim cylinders, exit devices and interchangeable cores each need a different approach. We carry the tools for the common ones and pick the method least likely to harm the door.

ID Checked on Every Call

We don't open a business for whoever happens to ask. A quick look at your government ID protects you as much as it protects us.

Rekey or Lock Change on the Spot

If the lockout happened because keys were lost, stolen or kept by a former employee, we can rekey or change the lock before we leave, so you open tomorrow with a secure door.

The Price Comes First

You get a clear quote before we start. If a door needs more than we expected, like drilling a high security cylinder, we stop and talk it through with you first.

Open Saturdays Too

Plenty of shops and restaurants do their best business on Saturday. We're available Saturdays from 8am to 8pm, the same hours as weekdays.

Business Lockouts We Handle

These are the calls we get most from owners and managers.

Lost or Missing Keys

The opening manager lost the key ring, or it left with someone who no longer works for you. We open the door and can rekey so that ring is useless to anyone who finds it.

Key Snapped in a Storefront Lock

Storefront cylinders see heavy daily use, and keys wear thin and break. We extract the piece and get the lock working again, or replace the cylinder if it's damaged.

Keypad Lock Won't Respond

Keypad locks can fail from dead batteries, a power problem or a code that won't take. We use the mechanical override where there is one and help track down the cause.

Office or Supply Room Locked Inside

Sometimes the front door is fine, but an office, supply room or file room is locked with its only key inside. We open interior commercial doors as well.

Lock Jammed After Someone Tried to Get In

If someone tried to force the door overnight, the lock may be jammed or bent. We get you inside, then repair or replace the hardware so you can lock up tonight.

File cabinets, desk drawers or cash drawers locked too? We open those as well and can make new keys for most of them.

How We Handle a Business Lockout

1. Call or Send a Request

Call (301) 888-5152 with the business address, the type of door and lock if you know it, and the name of whoever will meet us there.

2. Get a Clear Quote

Before anyone heads out, you know the price. Nothing is added at the door without your OK.

3. A Technician Heads Your Way

A technician drives to your location with commercial picks, bypass tools and spare cylinders, and keeps you posted on timing.

4. The Work Itself

We check your ID, then open the door using the method least likely to damage the lock or the door.

5. Testing Before We Finish

We lock and unlock the door with your key or a new one, and check that panic bars, closers and latches still work as they should.

6. Before We Leave

If keys are missing, we can rekey or swap the cylinder right then. If not, you're open for the day and we're on our way.

Business Lockout Questions

What do you need to see before opening a business?

Any government issued ID, like a driver’s license, a state ID card or a passport. If it’s locked inside, we open the door and check it there.

Can you open a glass storefront door without breaking it?

Yes, in most cases. Aluminum storefront doors usually have a narrow deadlock that can be picked or bypassed, and the glass is never part of the plan.

Should I rekey after an employee leaves with a key?

If you can’t confirm every copy came back, yes. Rekeying costs less than replacing locks and makes the old keys useless. For businesses with frequent turnover, a master key system or restricted keys can help.
