Locks are graded under an industry standard (ANSI/BHMA) from Grade 3 up to Grade 1, with Grade 1 the toughest. For most front doors we suggest Grade 2 or better, and we'll explain the options in plain language.
Most forced entries break the door frame, not the lock. We can fit a heavier strike plate with long screws that reach the framing behind the jamb, so a kick meets the house framing instead of a thin strip of trim.
New locks come with their own keys. We can set them to match your other locks, so the new deadbolt and the old back door still share one key.
Older doors, steel doors and doors with unusual measurements need some adjusting. We drill, chisel and shim as needed so the lock sits flush and the bolt extends all the way.
We remove the old locks and take them with us if you don't want them. You're left with working locks and nothing to clean up.
If a door was kicked or pried, the lock and strike are usually bent even if they still turn. We replace them and reinforce the frame so the door is stronger than it was.
Locks that wobble, grind when you turn the key or have broken parts inside often cost more to fix than to replace.
Moving from a basic knob to a solid deadbolt, or adding a deadbolt to a door that only had a knob lock, is one of the simplest ways to make a home harder to break into.
Renovating? We can install new handle sets and levers in the finish you choose and keep them consistent from door to door.
Keypad deadbolts and smart locks mean no more lost keys. We install them and line up the bolt so the motor isn't straining every time it locks.
Start with a call to (301) 888-5152 or a message through the form. Tell us which doors, what's on them now, and if you already have new locks or want us to bring them.
You get a clear price for the locks and the installation before anything is scheduled.
A technician arrives with the locks we agreed on and the tools for drilling, chiseling and fitting.
We remove the old hardware, prepare the door if it needs it, and install the new lock and strike.
We try every lock with every key, adjust the strike until the bolt slides in cleanly, and check that the door latches without a push.
You get your keys, we show you how anything new works, like setting keypad codes, and the old locks leave with us unless you want them.
